Abstract
Conventional open thyroidectomy leaves a 5 to 7 cm scar on the neck. This method has the advantage of being able to effectively perform thyroidectomy but has the limitation of leaving a scar on the neck. In some cases, neck scars can become keloids, which reduces the quality of life of patients. Various methods have been tried to prevent or reduce neck scars. Representative methods include wound protection during surgery, use of wound healing agents, and postoperative laser treatment.
